Brew & Review: Key Takeaways From Coffee with the ED

City of San Marcos

City Council

Several great questions were raised during the meeting about how residents can stay informed and connected with the San Marcos City Council.

The City of San Marcos website includes information about council members, meeting schedules, agendas, livestreams and contact details.

City Council meetings are typically held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at City Hall. Residents may attend meetings in person or watch online.

San Marcos UniverCity

The City of San Marcos continues to offer innovative opportunities for community engagement through the San Marcos UniverCity program. Originally launched in 2023, the free eight-week educational program gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at City Hall, city departments, leadership and community services. Dinner is provided during each session.

Participants hear directly from city staff and leadership on topics including:

  • Mayor and City Council
  • Economic development
  • Library and neighborhood services
  • Finance and Municipal Court
  • Planning and engineering
  • Police, fire and emergency management
  • Parks and recreation
  • Utilities and public works

Classes are held at various city facilities throughout San Marcos and are designed to help residents better understand city operations while encouraging civic involvement and community connections.

The 2026 class is currently full, but residents interested in future sessions are encouraged to watch for next year’s application announcements.

Additional information about future UniverCity programs is available through Tiffany Harris at tharris@sanmarcostx.gov.

Kissing Tree Cares

One of Kissing Tree’s SPARK-born groups, Kissing Tree Cares, will host a meeting May 28 at 3 p.m. in the Art Studio and welcomes residents interested in getting involved.

The group is currently seeking volunteers to support a local SMCISD student reading initiative and focuses on connecting Kissing Tree residents with opportunities to give back throughout the San Marcos community.

Residents looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities are encouraged to attend and learn more about how they can share their time and talents while making a positive impact in the community.

Pet Policy Reminder

Residents are reminded that pets are not permitted inside Kissing Tree amenity areas. Trained service animals assisting a person with a disability are permitted in accordance with applicable law.

This policy helps maintain the cleanliness, comfort and overall experience of shared amenity spaces for all residents and guests.

Thank you for helping keep Kissing Tree welcoming, respectful and enjoyable for everyone.
